And Rachel, from Burnley, will now spread the charity’s message.

Adam’s parents, Pat and Dave, have worked tirelessly in recent years to educate youngsters about the dangers of violence and the consequences of such actions.

Mrs Rogers said: “Rachel Brown-Finnis is an inspirational sportswoman who has achieved at the highest level in her chosen sport.

“I met Rachel at a ‘Lancashire Women of Achievement’ event and had the opportunity to talk to her about the work of the charity.

“It seems very fitting to have a real star from women’s football. Adam’s passion was coaching Padiham Ladies’ football team.

“Rachel had no hesitation when she was asked to consider the role of patron and we are absolutely delighted that she has accepted.

“She will have a busy few months ahead as her first baby is due at the end of the month.”

Rachel was capped more than 80 times for England and was in the 2012 Olympics, and since retirement has worked as a TV pundit.

Others supporters include former Blackburn MP Jack Straw, BBC News presenter Joanna Gosling and former Blackburn Council leader Sir Bill Taylor.

This year Every Action Has Consequences has developed a pack for primary and secondary pupils.

Mr and Mrs Rogers will aunch the packs in October before visiting every primary school in the county to show staff how to use them.
