A THRIVING South Lakeland primary school is being overseen by a new head teacher and has just taken on its largest intake of reception pupils for more than ten years.

Jane Farraday, of Windermere, has taken over the reins at Levens CE School from Matt Foxwell who has moved on to Staveley Primary School. Mrs Farraday has recently been bringing up her two children but was previously assistant head teacher at George Romney Junior School in Dalton.

"Now that my children are in full time education, I can dedicate more time to a more senior role and I have been looking for the right headship," she said. "Levens has such a lovely family atmosphere. It's just a dream job.
