LITTLE Lever had Imran Aslam’s leg spin to thank for their nine-run victory at Eagley.

Chasing just 93, Eagley just could not handle the visiting deputy pro’s bowling.

He finished with 4-47 and Mo Adnan helped himself to 4-12 with none of the Eagley batsmen reaching 20 as they went from 61-4 to 84 all out.

Aslam earlier scored 28 with Little Lever deputy pro Chris Williams taking 3-41 and Will Shuttleworth 3-19 before Danny Counsell mopping up the tail with 4-10 in 5.1 overs.

It was looking like it could have been a greater total before the home side slipped from 110-5 to 193-9 thanks to Gary Garner’s 55 which included six fours and two sixes. Opener Stuart Hornby scored 36.

No Tonge player got into double figures as they posted 38 in reply after task had been made no easier when one of their players left the ground at the interval.

Steve Foster took 4-23 including a wicket with his second ball and pro Kamran Younis took 5-10.

Astley Bridge beat Walkden by 135 runs with a strong all-round performance with bat and ball.

Their knocks came at numbers eight and nine respectfully after numbers three, four, five and six – Syd de Silva (21), Rick Northrop (24), Hashim Akhtar (21) and Yasir Rashid (28) – had built a solid foundation.
