AN Altrincham couple are bringing a fresh new concept in healthy workplace meals to Trafford.

Lauren Drury, 23 and 26-year-old Harrison Prosser founded City Salads three months ago with the aim of delivering homemade, super food lunches that are packed with taste as well as nutrition.

Now the business is going from strength to strength, with a growing customer base and plans to add a range of healthy drinks and snacks to their menu.

“When you’re in work all day and then at the gym perhaps later, people sometimes don’t have the time to prepare their lunch for the following day,” explained Lauren, 23.

“You’d think there would be lots of places for delivering healthy food in Manchester, but we realised there weren’t.

“We had wanted to start our own business and realised this was a great opportunity, so we spent between six and twelve months planning the business.”

City Salads is an urban change of scene from the couple’s earlier lines of work – Lauren has previously worked a job as a wedding planner on Lake Como, where Harrison was working for his father, a financial advisor.

And the couple’s new enterprise is certainly a family affair – with Harrison’s mother lending invaluable assistance and advice from her 20 years in the restaurant industry.

“We all came together to come up with the menus. We’re very passionate about it and wanted to make sure the salads were tasty, as well as healthy,” adds Lauren.

Their six base salads reflect the cuisine of different world regions, to which customers can add their choice of proteins to go on top – creating a bespoke lunch.

They’re targeting the distribution of 1,000 salads a day and introducing a subscription package and loyalty scheme to reflect the popularity of ordering a week’s worth of lunches ahead of time.

Customers can order before 1pm to get their salad the next day.

Prices start from £4.50 for a base salad up to a maximum of £6.50, with delivery by refrigerated distribution between 9am-12.30pm.
