A BAND known as the ‘Rat Pack of Opera’ have launched a competition to find an East Lancashire choir to perform on stage with them.

Tenors Unlimited will be performing at the Muni Theatre, in Colne on Sunday, September 27, from 7.30pm as part of a nation-wide tour of their new show From Venice To Vegas.

The trio, made up of Scott Ciscon, Paul Martin and Jem Sharples are now appealing for local choirs to send them an audition tape with the hope of appearing live with them on stage.

Jem Sharples from Tenors Unlimited says: “The choir can be any age group. We’d like to encourage school and youth choirs to enter our competition. The choir should just love singing, can be one sex or mixed, sing their favourite song or two and be junior, senior and/or adult – we may choose more than one choir.”

Choirs should upload a video of them singing one or two of their favourite songs to YouTube but set as private, and e-mail the link to contact@tenorsunlimited.com so Scott, Jem and Paul can view it. This will not be shared with any third parties.

Jem added: “Best of luck and we look forward to some great singing.”

Tenors Unlimited’s repertoire includes the ever popular classics La Donna è Mobile, The Pearl Fishers Duet and Nessun Dorma, interspersed with crooner and pop favourites such as Volare, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, Summertime, as well as songs written by Tenors Unlimited themselves including the title tracks to both their current albums Brand New Day and Viva La Vita.

For more than 10 years, the trio have entertained audiences throughout the world.

They have performed alongside such notables as Sting, Lionel Ritchie, Beyoncé, Hayley Westenra, Simply Red and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to name a few.

Using talents honed in their previous solo careers in opera and theatre, they bring their own blend of wit, charm and vocal arrangements to their performances.

Celebrity fan Alan Titchmarsh said of the band: “21st century tenors, great fun, great voices and a great evening.

Jem added: “There is sure to be something for everyone.”
