A GROUP of disadvantaged children from South Yorkshire had the adventure of a lifetime when they spent the day open water swimming in Windermere.
Langdale Chase Hotel’s swimming charity Gladmiral teamed up with Swim Your Swim to give the youngsters the opportunity.
The 25 children, some of whom had never been in a pool before, have been taught to swim over the past few months in preparation for their day out in the Lake District.
Langdale Chase Hotel’s managing director and keen open water swimmer Thomas Noblett said: “They had an absolutely marvellous time – you couldn’t get them out of the lake at the end of the day.
“These children have been through a lot and swimming is a great way to build their confidence and reclaim their childhood.”
