Clitheroe Youth Forum is one of four community groups who will benefit after receiving a £2,190 grant from Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner.

A spokesman for Clive Grunshaw says none of the youngsters have been convicted of any offence, but explains that some “have been known to get involved in anti-social behaviour and the aim is to stop that happening”.

The group will use the money to provide a range of activities for 10 to 15-year-olds and also get them involved in clean-up activities.

Clitheroe Youth Forum chairman Mel Diack MBE said: “I am delighted that the Police and Crime Commissioner has agreed to help fund our youth project at Pine Lake, Carnforth, which will see young people taking part in water ski activities.

“This is an opportunity not available for many and is such a difficult skill to master. It will be a great challenge to everyone as well as a lot of fun.

“This will be a great experience and they will be in a new environment and meeting new people as well as taking instructions from highly-qualified coaches.”

Between 120 and 140 young people will be taking part in the scheme.

Mr Grunshaw has a total of £8,390 to tackle crime, reoffending and anti-social behaviour.

He said: “The long summer holidays can be particularly difficult for parents. This money is used to make a real difference to the lives of people across Lancashire.”
