LIONS and lifesavers.

That's half of the membership of Bury Lions who have just qualified in emergency first aid and being trained on automated external defibrillators.

The certificates of training were presented by Scott Richardson in his last official duty as president.

Those who were awarded the certificates were Malc Evans, Billy Nottingham, Katie Sorfleet, James Lancaster, Scott Richardson and volunteer Nicky Green.

Meanwhile, taking over the role as president is Billy Nottingham, previously the club's first vice president.

Mr Richardson said: "After a very busy and successful year as president, I have handed the reins to Billy Nottingham who will do a fantastic job supporting and promoting Bury Lions Club.

Billy has been a member for around four years and has been a vital part of the team. Myself and our club wish him a great year."

James Lancaster is now the club's first vice president.
