A NURSERY worker suffering from leukaemia says her dream has come true after she met her musical heroes McBusted.

Jennifer Miller, from Darwen, not only saw the band perform but also got to chat with the the boys backstage before the gig.

“It really was a dream come true. I was smiling like a Cheshire cat, I just could not stop smiling,” she said.

Jennifer had to cancel her 21st birthday plans to see the chart toppers in March after she was diagnosed with cancer. Instead she spent her birthday in isolation at Manchester’s Christie Hospital recovering from a course of chemotherapy.

After the Lancashire Telegraph intervened, the band sent her a special video message.

“They remembered me and remembered doing the video,” she said. “They were all asking me about my health and said they were so happy they finally got to meet me. I hugged them all. Danny made me cry, he said I was so beautiful and not let anyone tell me anything else.

“Then he asked for a hug and I started crying. The half-an-hour just went so quick. They are just so down to earth, they talk to you like a normal person. It was amazing.

“I like them all but Tom is my favourite, his son Buzz was born on my birthday this year.”

The ‘meet and greet’ was organised by the Willow Foundation charity – through Christie’s, where Jennifer has been receiving treatment – which provides unforgettable days for seriously ill adults aged 16 to 40.

Before meeting the band – an amalgamation of McFly and Busted – Jennifer and her cousin Emma Hannon were wined and dined in a marquee and then had VIP tickets right at the front of the stage to see their idols perform.

Jennifer, of Dearden Court, has now finished her chemotherapy course and is attending monthly appointments to monitor her progress.

She has been a fan of McBusted for years and seen them perform live in the past. “Their music has been there for me and all through my cancer journey. I finished my treatment and then I got to meet them, it’s fully circle. It was amazing.”
