LEGENDARY dance group Faithless didn’t fail to impress when they rocked the stage at Lytham Festival last night.

The trio, Maxi Jazz, Sister Bliss and Rollo celebrated 20 years in music by headlining the Lytham Green stage in a new move for the event’s organisers.

Lytham Proms has been rebranded this year, to establish a week-long festival from Sunday, August 2 showcasing music, literary and comedy programming at a host of new locations, as well as the former Proms home on the Green.

The music heavyweights wowed the crowds with their greatest club classics including 'God is a DJ', 'Insomnia' and We come 1'.

90s ravers and younger music fans alike adorned their colourful face paint and glow sticks to set the evening skies alight with even the day’s bad weather making way for a lovely summer evening.

In 2011, the band announced a hiatus, but their return for summer 2015 is being hailed as one of the year’s hottest tickets.

Lytham Festival director Peter Taylor said: “Dance music is increasingly gathering its own rich history and we’re very happy to be part of celebrating that fact with the Faithless 20 show.

“Raving days may be a thing of the past for some but the surroundings of Lytham Festival and the Green Stage are the perfect place for people to revisit the classic tunes that Faithless are so well known for.”

Music fans are now gearing up for the festival’s 80s V 90s themed night tonight.

International R&B sensation Billy Ocean is to top the bill. He will be joined by other classic acts of the era including Chesney Hawkes, Jimmy Sommerville, East 17, Sinitta, 5ive and Vengaboys also turning back the musical clock.

While on Saturday night McBusted with be hitting the stage followed by ‘Songs from Stage and Screen’ on Sunday night with guests including Wet Wet Wet singer Marti Pellow and singer/actress Elaine Paige OBE, who will bring favourites from the West End and Broadway to life, backed by the superb Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.
