Mariah Carey has shared the spotlight with her young children as she unveiled her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Grammy-winning singer cuddled her four-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe after pulling back the cover on her piece of Hollywood history.

The children even got a chance to address the huge crowd of fans outside the W Hotel on Hollywood Boulevard as Mariah held them up to the microphone to say: “I love you Mummy.”

Dressed in a plunging, sequinned black gown and keeping her sunglasses firmly in place, she told the audience: “You’re melting my heart. You’re making me cry, and that’s why I’m keeping on my sunglasses. But I cannot thank you enough. This is a huge honour.”

She added: “It’s a childhood dream come true. It’s been a long time coming, so they say, and I’m very, very, very honoured and very humbled and just so thankful to be here.”

The singing superstar was joined by Empire creator Lee Daniels, who directed her in the film Precious, as well as director Brett Ratner and producer LA Reid for the emotional ceremony.

During his speech, Lee revealed Mariah will be guest starring on his hit show about a hip-hop dynasty, which airs on E4 in the UK.

He told the crowd: “Watch her on Empire, you guys. She’s coming on Empire.”

Mariah was selected for a star on the Walk of Fame in 2007 but only recently set the date for her ceremony.

She has just completed a residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and will return there for more shows next February.
