WANDERERS boss Neil Lennon made a hat-trick of additions to his squad yesterday with the signings of Emile Heskey, Stephen Dobbie and Lawrie Wilson.

The trio's deals had seemingly been a formality but Lennon will be happy they are all now signed and sealed as the countdown to the new Championship campaign enters its final 48 hours.

Wilson has penned a two-year deal after impressing during the five domestic pre-season friendlies and the former Charlton man's presence gives Lennon a more orthodox option at right-back, allowing him to revert Josh Vela to his more natural central midfield role.

Meanwhile, ex-Crystal Palace forward Stephen Dobbie, who travelled to the training camp in Austria and also played several pre-season matches, has earned a one-year contract.

The 32-year-old spent last season on loan at Fleetwood Town after two spells at Blackpool but has won promotion to the Premier League in three of the last six campaigns with Swansea, Palace and the Seasiders.

He has already scored for Wanderers in the friendly defeat at Morecambe last month and will add to Lennon's options in attack alongside Heskey, who has signed a similar 12-month deal.

The veteran spent the second half of last season with the Whites on his return to the English game and proved a valuable addition – netting on his debut in the 2-1 Boxing Day derby triumph against Blackburn Rovers.

His future looked secure at the end of the campaign despite not adding to his goals tally in 17 more appearances, though persistent hamstring problems dogged him.

But the 37-year-old's contract was not officially confirmed until yesterday.

The trio add to Ben Amos, Gary Madine and Derik Osede as summer signings for Lennon, though the Northern Irishman still hopes to add to his squad further before the summer transfer window closes at 6pm on September 1.

He was yesterday linked with French centre-back Prince-Desir Gouano on loan from Atalanta, with an option to buy the 21-year-old ex-Juventus defender but there has been no confirmation of any move.

For now, the boss knows the group he has to work with ahead of Saturday's season opener against Derby County at the Macron Stadium.

The club revealed the squad numbers for the new campaign yesterday with Amos taking the number one jersey and Madine and Osede wearing 14 and 15 respectively.

Dobbie will wear number 23 and Wilson 25, while Zach Clough is the new number 10 for the Whites.

There are also places in the senior set-up for summer arrivals to the development squad ranks Jordan Lussey and Jon Ceberio, while young keeper Will Jaaskelianen – son of Whites legend Jussi – has been handed the number 50 shirt.
