CARDIFF City striker Adam Le Fondre, who was heavily linked with a move to Blackburn Rovers over the weekend, is reportedly on the verge of signing for Wolves.

Rovers, who kick-off the Championship campaign at home to Wolves on Saturday, are under an embargo after failing Financial Fair Play.

That means the only way they could currently bring in Le Fondre is on loan or if Cardiff released him from his contract.

And, after Saturday's 3-0 home win over Wigan Athletic, which rounded off his side's pre-season preparations, Rovers boss Bowyer played down the chances of signing the 28-year-old, saying: “There are loads of players that we’re getting linked with and some of them we haven’t got a clue where the link comes from.

“Adam was on loan at Bolton and now he’s still a Cardiff player so, at this moment in time, there’s nothing in that from our end.”

It has been reported that Le Fondre will move to Wolves on loan with a view to a permanent deal and that the Black Country outfit will pay the majority of his wages, which are believed to be in the region of £16,000 per week.

Rovers, given their embargo, can offer wages of no more than £10,000 per week.
