A FUNDRAISER whose beloved grandfather was cared for at Bolton Hospice hopes to bring his grand total to £7,000 after organising a family fun day in Morris Green.

Kelby Makin, aged 27, started raising money for the hospice to say 'thank you' after his grandfather Barry Wallace died.

He organised the event at the Ellesmere Recreational Club, The Morris Dancers pub and Essa Academy where a selection of musical arts were performed and an 11-a-side football match was played.

Cartoon characters also made an appearance including Minions, Peppa Pig, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, and children could also take part in various games and activities.

Mr Makin said: "It was a fantastic day. We had some great family activities such as a bouncy castle, face painting and a prize raffle.

"We also had an 11-a-side football tournament between the Morris Dancers pub and Ellesmere Recreational Centre, which was lots of fun. I played for Ellesmere and we won 5-3, so we soaked the other team with water bombs as a forfeit."

Mr Makin, who lives in Morris Green, hopes to have raised £1,000 from the day.

He said: "I have been fundraising for the hospice ever since my grandfather died. He had cancer and was looked after there in the weeks up until his death.

"So far I've raised £6,000 so it would be great to add another thousand onto that total from this event."
