Don’t get too envious, but we were amongst one of the first audiences to see Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation.

And let’s just say that the fifth Mission: Impossible film, starring Tom Cruise as IMF agent Ethan Hunt alongside Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson and Jeremy Renner, does not disappoint.

If the film’s trailer hasn’t enticed you to start pre-booking your cinema tickets, here are nine reasons why you should just do it.

1. The thrills

The death-defying stunts will keep you on the edge of your seat.

From hanging onto an Airbus A400M plane at 5,000 feet as it takes off, to jumping off the rooftop of the Vienna State Opera house, Tom’s stunts – mostly done by the actor himself – will take your breath away.

There’s also an underwater stunt, involving 75,000 gallons of water and only three minutes of oxygen – start holding your breath now.

2. Rebecca Ferguson’s fight scenes

As Ilsa Faust, the Swedish actress – not to be mistaken for the British soul singer – proves to be a match for Tom’s character Ethan, and she is amazing.

Best known for playing Elizabeth Woodville in the BBC’s Golden Globe-nominated 10-part historical drama The White Queen, she has shaken off her corsets to show off fighting skills you’re more likely to associate with MMA stars Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano.

3. The banter between Ethan Hunt and Benji Dunn

It’s great to see there is more chemistry between Tom Cruise’s Ethan and Simon Pegg’s character, Benji Dunn in this film than ever before.

And when their friendship gets tested, the going gets tough…

4. Nightmare at the opera

A night at the opera will never be the same once you’ve seen Rogue Nation, and the crescendo of Nessun Dorma will send chills through your body.

5. Tom’s body

Tom may be 53, but he’s in better shape than ever, thanks to his strenuous work-outs for the role.

The impressive results, which include his rock-hard abs, a shirtless torso and some strong biceps, can be seen within the first 30 minutes of Rogue Nation.

6. Jeremy Renner

Jeremy Renner reprises his role as IMF Agent William Brandt in this film, and he brings some unexpected humour during some tense scenes.

He also has some banter with Alec Baldwin’s CIA alter-ego Alan Hunley and Ving Rhames’ Luther Stickell.

7. Exotic locations

From Vienna to Morocco, the team are back jet-setting around the world. Our very own capital features in a lot of the film, and some of the scenes will make you look at London with a fresh perspective and give you a new appreciation for the city.

8. Chases

Ethan is on the Hunt for the baddies, but to capture them, he’s got to find them first.

From exhilarating car chases in fancy BMWs and speeding along in motorbikes, the viewer is thrown into the action from the film’s opening sequence and there’s no let up.

9. Sean Harris

British actor Sean Harris gives a chilling performance as the villainous Solomon Lane.

Having portrayed a psychopathic killer stalking the London Underground in Creep, serial killer Ian Brady and a murderous shooter in Channel 4 drama Southcliffe, for which he won a Bafta, he’s clearly no stranger to playing baddies.

Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation opens in cinemas on July 30.
