HORWICH motorcycle racer Malachi Mitchell-Thomas produced another top-10 finish in his latest British Superbike Superstock 600 race.

The 19-year-old climbed to fifth in the series with a super seventh-place finish at Knockhill Race Circuit in Fife, Scotland.

Riding for Silicone Engineering Racing Team of Blackburn, Mitchell-Thomas got himself into sixth position on row two of the grid after practice and qualifying.

After initially falling back a few places in the 35-strong field, he was back up to sixth by the end of lap 11, the halfway mark in the race.

He held the position for a few more laps before dropping back a place when the race was abandoned due to heavy rain.

It gave him another nine points to add to his season's total as the series heads to Brands Hatch for round seven this weekend.

He said: "The weekend was a bit hit and miss with the weather which caused some difficulty for us.

"I had a slow start in the race but managed to pull back towards the end.

"I just wish we could have had full race distance.

"I would like to thank all my sponsors for their continued support and I am looking forward to Brands Hatch Grand Prix as it is one of my favourite circuits."
