TODAY'S revenge porn figures illustrate the extent to which people of all ages and both sexes can become victims.

A 12-year-old girl became the victim of revenge porn when topless pictures of her were posted on Facebook after splitting up with her partner.

The girl's friend told her parents and the matter was reported to Cheshire Police and social services.

In another case, a 13-year-old girl discovered an image of her topless, and another of her in underwear, were used to set up a fake Facebook profile in her name when she and her partner split up.

The images were shared with another offender who then sent bogus friend requests to the girl's friends. However, the victim did not support police action against the suspect.

The same force reported another teenager, a 19-year-old woman, who discovered images of her getting out of the bath following the breakdown in her relationship with her boyfriend. The ex was subsequently charged with a harassment offence.

According to Hertfordshire Police, a man in his 40s was cautioned for harassment after he sent naked photos of his former girlfriend to her boss. He also made regular abusive contact with his ex, via WhatsApp and through phone calls.

A teenage boy, whose age was not supplied by Hertfordshire Police, told his former girlfriend's friends he had nude photographs of his ex and would publish them online if she did not do as he wanted. He had been making daily contact with his ex and her friends, trying to get information about her whereabouts.

The victim did not give her consent to the images being taken and only discovered their existence when the ex-boyfriend sent her a screenshot. As of April, the suspect was on police bail in connection with alleged harassment.

In another case, a violent ex-boyfriend posted nude images of his ex-girlfriend on social media. The woman, who had not heard from her former partner for two years, only discovered the images when her friend informed her.

A 39-year-old man contacted Leicestershire Police after an unknown woman persuaded him to perform a sex act over a webcam. She then blackmailed him to send cash or risk the video being uploaded to the internet. Police were unable to trace the female suspect.

And a 17-year-old girl discovered she was the recipient of numerous unwanted requests for nude pictures when an acquaintance added her details to a pornographic website.

One woman contacted Merseyside Police after her former friend allegedly uploaded pictures of her on the internet. The female suspect also sent them to mutual friends. The incident was still under investigation as of March.

Two older victims, a man aged 61 and a 67-year-old woman, both contacted Northamptonshire Police in January to complain about images involving them. In both case, the suspects were their former partners. No further details were provided by police.

The same force recorded complaints from 13 victims aged between 11 and 19.
