A FEMALE Calderstones patient assaulted a member of staff for no apparent reason.

Blackburn magistrates heard that two weeks later Naomi Wood attacked another member of staff, who was left with a whiplash injury.

Wood, 20, pleaded guilty to two charges of assault. She was ordered to pay £150 compensation to each of her victims, £85 costs and A £15 victim surcharge.

Rachael Parker, prosecuting, said care worker Adam Guirdham was sat in a lounge on a Sunday afternoon interacting with residents when, for no reason, Wood through a tumbler of water in his face.

Wood then launched herself at him, grabbing his neck and scratching him.

“He fell to the floor but managed to get to his feet and restrain her,” said Miss Parker.

The second assault was on a female member of staff who was sitting in an armchair. Wood was sitting opposite her and then got up and suddenly grabbed her hair, dragging her backwards over the chair.
