NO-ONE can complain of being bored in East Lancashire this weekend with a host of events lined up for one of the busiest weekends of the year.

One of the biggest events will be the Starlight Walk, which has a Raring to Glow theme this year.

Hundreds of woman and girls will depart from the Soccerdome on Haslingden Road in Guide at 10pm on Saturday to raise money for East Lancashire Hospice.

If you missed out on Glastonbury, then there’s the Moofest, offering three nights’ camping, music and mud at Wellybobs Farm, off Roman Road, in Darwen.

The event includes instrumental Darwen dork rock act No Teef.

If you fancy something grander, then head to Hoghton Tower in the Ribble Valley for Symphony at the Tower, where Status Quo headline tonight, backed by Blackburn rockers New York Tourists, and Blake, Lucy Kay and the Heart of England Philharmonic Orchestra play on Saturday.

If you prefer big bands then Townley Park in Burnley is hosting the Brass in the Park championships on Sunday, with free entrance.

Elsewhere, this year’s Rishton Festival will have a Stars in their Eyes theme, Darreners will be dancing in the streets as organisers put the finishing touches to Darwen Dance Live and Saturday’s Barrowford Lifestyle Festival features the very best of local food, drink, art and hand-crafted products between 10am and 8pm.
