FOURTEEN people have been fined £75 for dropping rubbish across Colne since January 1 – including five offences at the district’s recycling facilities.

Officers handed out four Fixed Penalty Notices (FPN) on the Dockray car park and one at the Holker Street recycling container.

Residents were also given notices for flicking cigarette butts outside the Betfred betting shop and flytipping in the Red Lion pub car park in the town centre.

A total of 41 people have now been slapped with FPNs since last April, including eight dog owners who did not “pick up and bag it” after their pet soiled the streets.

There have been no fines for dog fouling since the start of the year, when two new waste bins were installed, with one next to Stell’s Pet Store, and four replaced, including the burnt-out bin next to Pendle Leisure Centre and the vandalised facility on Holt House.
