MOTORISTS have been reassured they have nothing to fear filling up in supermarket forecourts in East Lancashire.
An investigation has been launched by Trading Standards officers after thousands of motorists claimed they had been sold contaminated fuel.
Drivers have experienced problems after buying petrol from some service stations and supermarkets, including Morrison's and Tesco in the south of England.
But the two companies and trading standards have confirmed there have been no complaints about petrol from shoppers using East Lancashire filling stations.
The spotlight is on fuel sensors that have failed in some vehicles, probably as a result of faulty petrol.
