TODMORDEN now has improved flood warning systems.
The Environment Agency has replaced and added to its network.
Improvements have been made to the service, and it has replaced and added to its network of sirens servicing the Upper Calder Valley, which includes Walsden, Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd as well as Todmorden.
There are now eight sirens which will alert the owners of 2,155 properties in Todmorden, 571 in Hebden Bridge and 400 in Mytholmroyd.
The first two phases of flood alleviation work in Todmorden have been completed, and the remainder is waiting funds being made available.
Work set to be started includes improvements to the riverbed from Morrisons supermarket to a stretch of river at Gauxholme Arches, at Shade Village, Todmorden.
