A 31-YEAR-OLD man with a long-standing addiction to heroin was caught with drugs when police turned up at his Blackburn home with a search warrant.

During the search heroin and amphetamine were found and also drug paraphernalia, Preston Crown court was told.

Paul Cumpsty, of Infirmary Street, admitted possession of heroin with intent to supply and possession of amphetamine.

Miss Sarah Statham, prosecuting, said police executed the drugs search warrant on November 8 last year.

Cumpsty had previous convictions, mainly for offences to fund his addiction.

Tim Storrie, defending, said Cumpsty had no education and had slept rough for the first time at the age of 15.

Cumpsty was sentenced to a two year community order and will be supervised for two years.

He will also undergo drug rehabilitation and a forfeiture order was made in respect of the drugs and money found.
