TWO parks in Darwen will be given a new lease of life worth almost £225,000.
The play area at Bold Venture Park will be completely revamped after it secured a windfall of £175,000.
A further £49,000 has been awarded for improved play facilities at Ashton Park, off Bolton Road.
The playgrounds are well used by residents and visitors but need rejuvenation.
Residents and schoolchildren in Darwen will soon be consulted about what sort of play equipment they would like to see at the parks before the final designs are drawn up.
Bold Venture is Grade II listed so any improvements will need to fit in with the historic status of the park.
The revamp is being funded by money given to Blackburn with Darwen Council for play areas by the developers of Belgrave Mill in the town.
