DERWENT Hall, Darwen, has been praised after a surprise inspection.
Borough environmental health officers applauded staff for keeping all records up to date and for the cleanliness of the kitchen.
The hall, in George Street serves up a two-course lunch to around 350 over-55s each week. There is also a day care centre, cafe, craft sessions and games.
Manager Julie Brindle said she was proud of the inspection results and encouraged residents to get involved in the hall.
"Lots of people don't know we are here," she said. "We are a charity and we are here for the Darwen people."
In the evening, the hall is used as a meeting place by slimming clubs, a gardening club, charity groups and other organisations.
