THE Pendle Forest Sports Club has applied for planning permission to embark upon a £1.3million-pound expansion scheme for new football pitches, a pavilion and a car park.

The club submitted plans for the ambitious project to Pendle Council to transform farmland opposite the Forest Inn on Cuckstool Lane.

The plans submitted include six new pitches for senior, youth and junior players, a new pavilion, groundsmen's hut and a 40 space car park.

New road access to Cuckstool Lane is also planned away from the car park.

The club plans to raise the £100,000 needed for the project through fundraising, sponsorship and donations.

Pendle Council has received a number of letters in support of the proposals because the town's reorganisation of secondary education will lead to Brierfield's Bent Head losing their playing fields.
