37-homes plan ruling for Bolton-le-Sands

A NORTH Lancashire village is to get 37 new homes after a planning appeal was upheld by a government inspector.
The development at Bolton-le Sands, on agricultural land adjacent to the A5105 Coastal Road, has been approved at the highest level after initially being refused by Lancaster City Council.
Criticisms of the development were over its proposed drainage scheme and claims the land might be more suitable for a bigger development.
“The appeal site is in a sustainable location adjacent to public transport links and close to the facilities of Bolton-le-Sands,” said inspector Anthony Lyman. “The sloping fields do appear to suffer from poor drainage.
“Nevertheless, the appellant has demonstrated to the satisfaction of the expert authorities that a sustainable drainage system would adequately drain surface water from the site and the development, without increasing the risk of flooding to nearby properties.”
