THE UK’s top politicians, led by Prime Minister David Cameron, have backed the Lancashire Telegraph’s jobs campaign that is about to be launched next week.

Mr Cameron described the Telegraph’s Action4Jobs campaign as ‘a fantastic initiative’, and was joined by Labour leader Ed Miliband and Liberal Democrat boss Nick Clegg in praising the drive to get local people back into work.

The Telegraph’s new dedicated recruitment section will help bring together employers and education providers to help people of all ages find work, and develop career opportunites. Our news team will be focusing on the local jobs market and showcasing career and training opportunities available in East Lancashire.

Mr Cameron said: “This is a fantastic initiative by the Lanc-ashire Telegraph to help people who want to work hard and get on. Our economy is on the mend, but there is still more to do as we move from rescue to recovery.

“By bringing together employers, colleges and business groups at a local level, people can hear about new opportunities, share experiences, and progress at every stage of their career.”

Mr Miliband said: “Action4 Jobs is a brilliant campaign.

“This initiative will hopefully get more people in work at a time when opportunities are not easy to come by. There is a generation of young people currently feeling let down.

“By promoting businesses, schools and colleges, and boost-ing the number of apprent-iceships on offer, this campaign could help get the local economy back on track. This is One Nation Labour – on the side of hard-working people. “

Deputy Prime Minister Mr Clegg said: “Getting young people working is one of my absolute top priorities, so I am fully behind the Lancashire Telegraph’s Action4Jobs campaign.

“It’s a great idea to bring employers and colleges together to help young people in East Lancashire to find work.

“Liberal Democrats have helped businesses create more than a million jobs. Now we want to help create a million more, and the Action4Jobs campaign can be a key part of that.

“As a Liberal Democrat in Government, I’ve been working hard to help more companies of all sizes to take on young people.

“That’s why we have over-seen a massive increase in apprenticeships, and why I introduced the Wage Incentive as part of the Youth Contract to give cash to businesses when they take on someone aged 18 to 24, so that they can afford to train them, and give them jobs that last.

“Working together with initiatives like the Lancashire Telegraph’s Action4Jobs campaign, we can give all young people a chance.

“If you’re a young person looking for a job, get involved in the campaign, talk to your local college about apprenticeships, or go to your nearest Job Centre to ask about the Wage Incentive.”

Don’t miss next Thursday’s Lancashire Telegraph for the launch of Action4Jobs.
