ARTISTS from north Lancashire and South Lakeland are counting down to another instalment of the popular Silverdale and Arnside Art and Craft Trail.

Taking place from June 28 to 30, the event offers people an opportunity to visit studios and exhibitions to view or purchase the work of local artists.

Now in its ninth year, the trail opens on the Friday from 5 pm to 8 pm and runs from 10.30 am to 5.30pm on the Saturday and Sunday.

One of the artists is Tracy Levine, who lives in Arnside and works full-time as an artist from a purpose-built studio.

She said she was inspired by the wonderful landscape surrounding her – and her work is now exhibited extensively in galleries throughout Cumbria and the North West.

Tracy has been a prize winner for the past three years in the Cumbria OPEN as well as being awarded first prize in 2009.

During the festival, key venues including Leighton Moss RSPB nature reserve will offer refreshments, toilets, parking, and dis-abled access, and in a lot of instances, the opportunity to participate in workshops and demonstrations.

Event organiser Debbie Copley said: “Famous for its wealth of wildlife and set in tranquil surroundings this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty has inspired many artists over the years.

“With its stunning backdrop of the Lake District and ever-changing estuary scenery, this small piece of heaven offers an excellent weekend escape.”
