A BURNLEY man with a history of heart trouble died after collapsing at a friend’s home, an inquest heard.
Stephen Bonsall, 43 of Sharp Street, underwent an operation in 2010 to fit two heart valves.
He collapsed at a friend’s house on August 16 last year after arriving in good spirits at around 11.20pm.
He was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary but could not be revived.
A hearing at Burnley Magistrates’ Court heard that friends told paramedics that Mr Bonsall had taken amphetamines on the day of his collapse and that he had used the drug for many years.
A pathologist’s report said drugs were found in his system but not at the level of fatal toxicity.
Although the heart valves were fully functional there was other evidence of disease in the organ.
East Lancashire coroner Richard Taylor recorded a verdict that Mr Bonsall had died from natural causes.
