LANCASHIRE County Council is asking people for their views on proposed changes to the current 20mph speed limit in Broadway, Helmshore.
The lower limit was introduced at the end of 2011 as part of the scheme to establish 20mph as the speed limit in residential areas, and outside schools.
The measure was introduced to tackle the numbers of cyclists and pedestrians killed, or seriously injured, in 30mph zones.
The county council agreed in 2012 to review the scheme covering Broadway after receiving a petition from local residents, councillors, and the MP for Rossendale and Darwen to raise the limit back to 30mph.
County Coun Tim Ashton, cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “I’ve listened to the feedback we’ve received about the speed limits on Broadway and I’d encourage people to take this opportunity to tell us what they think about the new plan.
“We’re proposing a part- time advisory 20mph limit covering the area outside the schools at opening and closing times, but to change the rest of the road back to 30mph.”
The consultation deadline is March 15 and views can be sent to 20mph-consultation@ lancashire.gov.uk
