MEASURES are to be discussed by farmers to try to halt the spread of bovine TB to Lancashire.
The National Farmers’ Union is hosting a special meeting to discuss how to tackle bovine TB in the region where incidence levels vary from county to county.
Bovine TB is taking hold in Cheshire where farmers believe the disease is now prevalent in the wildlife population, but Lancashire is still relatively free.
In January 2013, new Defra rules will be introduced which will mean that farmers in low-incidence areas will face tougher restrictions when they or one of their neighbours has TB confirmed on their farm.
