NEWLY promoted Barrow have failed with an audacious bid to lure Morecambe's Wayne Curtis back to his hometown club.
The Bluebirds, who gained promotion to the Blue Square Conference thanks to a play-off win against Stalybridge, are linked with Barrovian Curtis on a regular basis.
Those links are mainly speculation - but Holker Street joint manager Daved Bayliss admits: "We have enquired about Curtis."
However, the Barrow plans have been scuppered with Curtis, who joined the Shrimps from Holker Old Boys in 1998, insisting he wants to stay put.
Adds Bayliss: "You can't blame the lad. He is full-time and at a good club and he has a testimonial coming up.
"Maybe in the future, though. You never know."
