Carnforth's bright start to the Northern League campaign hit a shuddering wall on Saturday as they were hammered by Kendal at Shap Road.
Adam Hornby won the toss - but that was about the only success Carnforth had on the outskirts of the Lakes as Kendal pro Ross MacMillan had a field day.
The South African was too hot for Carnforth and claimed the remarkable figures of 7-15 from 12.5 overs to change the course of the game Darren Moore (14), Lewis Bradley (15) and pro Ryan Bailey (47) got Carnforth off to a decent start and Ben Harrison made 18 - but when they were sent back only Hornby (13) could make double figures and the locals were in trouble.
In the end they slumped to 128 all out in 46.5 overs - and that was never going to be enough against a side of Kendal's quality.
Skipper Ikram Ullah carried his bat for 58 and MacMillan claimed man of the match honours with an unbeaten 44 as Kendal strolled home with 20 overs to spare..
