What To Do In The Morecambe Area


St Peter's Church Heysham St Peter’s Church and St Patrick’s Chapel.
The chapel dates from around 750 and the myth says that it was built by St Patrick. Close by are the Rock Hewn Graves, which are thought to date back to that of the chapel. The church is also steeped in history and contins artefacts found on the site. The views from the church and nearby Heysham Head are next to none – providing panoramic views of Morecambe bay across to the Lake District..
Eric Morecambe Eric Morecambe Statue.
The now world-famous Eric Morecambe statue can be seen on Morecambe's central promenade. The statue is a tribute to Morecambe's greatest son.

Morecambe stones Stone Jetty and Poetry Path
The regeneration taking place in Morecambe is phenomenal and recent features to the resort include a poetry path, which runs through the popular festival market car park, and features sayings, poems and literary extracts about the environment and bird life in the bay – which is a great place for bird spotting. The stone jetty features themed pavement games and sculptures along the way.
Leighton Hall Leighton Hall
Leighton Hall is a 12th century fortified manor house rebuilt in the 18th century with a neo-gothic facade set in beautiful grounds. Trained birds of prey give flying display in the summer. There are a series of walks which can be taken around the area and surrounding village of Yealand Conyers and Yealand Redmayne, which take in panoramic views of Morecambe Bay.
Canal locks Canal Walks
Walks along the Lancaster canal from Hest Bank to Bolton-le-Sands is one of the best canal walks to be had as the panaromic views across to the Lake District and Warton are fabulous.
Carnforth Station Carnforth Station.
Heading towards the Cumbria border is the market town of Carnforth. It’s railway station was the location for the classic love story 'Brief Encounter'.
