The Sword In The Stone is the latest Disney cartoon to be getting a live action makeover for the big screen.
Disney has already remade classic animations Alice In Wonderland and Cinderella and has Beauty And The Beast, The Jungle Book, The Little Mermaid, Dumbo and Aladdin revamps in the pipeline.
The latest to be added to the live action list is 1963 Arthurian legend-inspired The Sword In The Stone. Based on the novel by TH White, it follows a young Prince Arthur and his wizard mentor Merlin’s quest to help him become king.
No casting has been made, but Game Of Thrones writer and producer Brian Cogman has signed up to pen the script, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Beauty And The Beast live action movie, starring Harry Potter’s Emma Watson, is currently filming at Shepperton studios in the UK.
The Jungle Book, featuring Scarlett Johansson, Idris Elba, Sir Ben Kingsley, Bill Murray, Christopher Walken and Lupita Nyong’o voicing CGI versions of the animal characters, is due to open in cinemas next year.
