Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill is 20 today (how old does that make you feel?). It was a landmark album for the Canadian singer and the soundtrack to so many teenage girl’s lives.
It was emotional, strong and vulnerable all at the same time. The album defined a generation, sold more than 30 million copies and won four Grammy Awards after it was released on June 13, 1995.
Here’s what Jagged Little Pill taught us.
1. If you’re going through a break up being angry helps.
2. How to see right through a player.
3. That shit things happen. Like having ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife.
4. That someone really worth it will fight for you and treat you like a princess.
5. You can feel totally contradictory things but everything’s going to be fine (fine, fine).
6. It’s OK not to know what you’re doing with your life.
7. Everyone makes mistakes, just learn from them.
8. Trying to be perfect is just ridiculous.
