EastEnders star Rakhee Thakrar has revealed Shabnam Masood’s feud with her dad is set to culminate in her banning him from coming to her wedding.

Shabnam and her father Masood (Nitin Ganatra) have been at loggerheads over his decision to track down her love child from a one-night stand with Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo).

Shabnam is set to marry Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami) and refuses to acknowledge the secret daughter she gave away years ago. So she is furious when Dean storms into her engagement party and exposes her secret in front of everyone, telling her their daughter’s name is Jade.

Rakhee revealed: “That moment is hugely important for Shabnam – not only is her secret revealed in front of all of her family and friends, but this is the first time she hears what her daughter’s new name is. All of a sudden, it’s in the present, not the past – it’s right there in front of her.

“And there is this horrible lie that she told to Dean about the baby dying, which I think she regretted as soon as she said it. Everything that you could possibly hit her with comes out in that moment, so she crumbles. She goes from the absolute high to the absolute low in a moment. She can’t avoid it anymore.”

The baby girl was fostered after Shabnam abandoned her on a doorstep in 2008 – nine months after having sex with Dean in a nightclub toilet. Dean was apparently too drunk to remember the incident, but when his mum Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) found out Shabnam’s secret, Shabnam lied to Dean and told him the baby had died.

Shabnam blames Masood and takes revenge on him by cutting him out of her wedding plans.

Rakhee said: “After all the many moments of Masood promising to back away and leave it alone, this really is the final straw. Him going to the Carters is a huge deal and even he knows that. At home, it’s confirmed it was Masood who told the Carters and there’s just this huge argument.

“Shabnam gets back at him with the one thing that she can have control over and that’s inviting him to the wedding and Shabnam says he can’t come. That is the one thing she knows that will hurt him as much as he has hurt her. He is such a family man and that is the biggest reason he has gone after Jade in the first place.”

Wild child Shabnam, who was previously played by actress Zahra Ahmadi, left Walford in 2008 to stay with relatives in Pakistan and returned a devout Muslim in 2014. She first revealed she had a secret child in January when she confided in friend Stacey Branning (Lacey Turner).
