Jamie Dornan will show a more intense side to Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades Of Grey sequel.
The 33-year-old actor is seen preparing for a masquerade ball, wearing a tuxedo and donning a black mask, in the teaser trailer for Fifty Shades Darker, the second instalment of EL James’ book trilogy.
Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley has revealed that the second film will be “more of a thriller” at The Hollywood Reporter’s annual Power Lawyers breakfast.
EL’s husband Niall Leonard will write the script for the next movie, which will be released in February 2017.
“He actually did a draft that wasn’t credited on the first movie, and he did a really good job,” Donna explained.
She also spoke about the creative differences on set between the author and director Sam Taylor-Johnson, who is not returning for the next two films.
“For the record, the movie we ended up making is exactly the movie I wanted to make and that the studio wanted to make and that our director wanted to make,” she said.
Meanwhile, Jamie admitted he didn’t see himself in the role.
“I knew for a while they were making the movie, I didn’t immediately think, ‘Oh yeah, that’s me. I’m the guy.’ I was told to make an audition tape. Then had to fly to LA to test,” he said in a bonus scene on the Fifty Shades Of Grey DVD.
Dakota said Jamie was the dream co-star.
“Jamie came in and was cracking jokes the whole time and was trying to like out-joke me. He made it light and that was so different from what other people were doing. It was really awesome, it was really refreshing,” she said.
