Emmerdale’s Adam Thomas has admitted his character Adam Barton needs to man up.
Adam’s one-night stand with Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) comes back to haunt him next week when she tells him she is pregnant and he might be the father of the baby.
Adam slept with Vanessa when he thought he was “on a break” from fiancee Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins), and they are back together now. But Adam feels torn, as he recently discovered the man he thought was his uncle, James Barton (Bill Ward), is actually his biological father, and he doesn’t want the same thing to happen to his child.
Adam said: “It’s a massive shock to the system, he’s just got back with Victoria, everything’s sorted, and then this is just another spanner in the works.
“But he has second thoughts. Because at the end of the day, somebody pretended to be his dad – it’s like a vicious circle.”
The 27-year-old actor became a father for the first time in September to son Teddy – and he has some advice for Adam.
“If it was a friend of mine I’d say, ‘You did the deed, you’ve got to be man and own up to what you did.’
“It’s one of them things and you’ve got to take on a massive priority. I’m a father myself now and it’s literally one of the best things in the world.
“When is anyone ready for a child? You’re just not. But when it happens you man up and you deal with it.”
