The Marvel TV series Daredevil has already packed such a punch with viewers that it will be flying back to Netflix for a second series, due for release in 2016.

Set in modern day New York, it stars British actor Charlie Cox as Matt Murdoch, a blind superhero with extraordinary senses who fights for justice as a lawyer by day and Daredevil, his superhero alter-ego by night.

The pilot aired on April 10, 2015 and has been so highly praised by critics and fans alike that the streaming service was quick to renew the series and keep the Marvel buzz going.

Steven S DeKnight, season one’s showrunner, has announced that he will not be returning for a second series but said that he knows the show is in safe hands of the executive producers for season two.

He said “I could not be happier that Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez are carrying the torch. They were invaluable collaborators during our first season, and I for one can’t wait to see what they do with the show moving forward.”

The show also stars Deborah Ann Woll and Vincent D’Onofrio and is exclusively available to watch on Netflix.
