In the wake of Jeremy Clarkson’s sacking from Top Gear, “Oisin Tymon” became a trend on Twitter.
Naturally this was because of people expressing their sympathy with the Top Gear producer who was attacked by Clarkson in the infamous fracas and had to go to A&E, right?
Wrong.
It’s worth remembering amid the vitriol and opprobrium that a) it was Tymon who was the victim in the incident; b) it was Clarkson who reported it himself, not Tymon; and c) the producer has “no blame” attached to him and “behaved with huge integrity throughout”, according to BBC director general Tony Hall.
In amongst it all, someone spotted an opportunity for Clarkson to rehabilitate his image.
We’ll keep you updated on that…
