It’s not just the petition-signing masses that will be sorry to see Jeremy Clarkson walk away from more than 30 years at the BBC. A whole host of famous faces have made themselves known as Clarkson fans throughout the years, and have since come out in support of the beleaguered presenter.

Here are some obvious – and not so obvious – champions of Jezza.

1. Richard Hammond

Jezza’s co-star has been resorting to non-linear verse and long walks with the dog in an attempt to come to terms with his friend’s dismissal.

2. James May

Although he’s been playing it much cooler than Hammond.

3. Gary Lineker

Who was destined to be the “Star in a Reasonably Priced Car” in the episode that got postponed…

4. Lady Gaga

Apparently the pop megastar watched back-to-back box sets of Top Gear while recovering from hip surgery.

5. Boris Johnson (well, kind of)

Not content with being an MP, newspaper columnist, and the Mayor of London, Bozza has thrown his hat into the ring for Clarkson’s job as well.

Which begs the question: Is multiple-job Boris directly responsible for the unemployment crisis?

6. Snoop Dogg

“He isn’t part of Top Gear – he is Top Gear,” the rapper told The Sun.

7. Gillian Anderson

“He can’t not be part of the show,” Anderson told The Big Issue. “He makes the show. It’s an unfortunate situation but the show is as popular because of his inappropriate behaviour both on and off camera.”

8. David Cameron

David Cameron
(Dan Kitwood/PA)

When “fracas-gate” first happened, the premier unexpectedly weighed into the debate. He said Clarkson (who is also the PM’s neighbour) is a “huge talent” and said he hoped the situation could be resolved so the Cameron children will not be left “heartbroken”.

9. Former culture secretary Maria Miller

The former Tory cabinet minister described Clarkson as a “legend” and insisted the BBC had to improve the way it dealt with “larger than life characters”, suggesting it could learn from football managers.

10. These guys

Over one million people signed an online petition to get the Top Gear presenter reinstated.

11. The Stig

Or at least the guy who’s suspected to be under the helmet. Phil Keen joined a Facebook group calling for Clarkson’s reinstatement.

12. Emily Clarkson

As you can see, Jezza’s daughter had a particularly personal interest in seeing her dad re-signed by the Beeb.
