Anthony and Joe Russo, the filmmaking brothers behind the Captain America films, are to direct the next two Avengers sequels.
The siblings will take over from Joss Whedon to take the reins on both parts of Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War.
They plan to film Infinity War in one long shoot beginning in 2016, once they are finished with the third Captain America film, sources told the Hollywood Reporter.
Anthony and Joe, who started off directing episodes of TV comedies Arrested Development, Happy Endings and Community, will begin shooting Captain America: Civil War in April. It is scheduled for release in May 2016.
Stars such as Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans are tipped to reprise their roles for the next two instalments, although this has yet to be confirmed.
Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1 and Part 2 are slated to be released in May 2018 and May 2019 respectively.
