The new series of Vicious will follow gay couple Freddie and Stuart on their adventures to the gym and dance classes, Sir Derek Jacobi has revealed.

The 76-year-old actor stars with Sir Ian McKellen, 75, and Frances de la Tour in the hit ITV sitcom about the bickering but devoted couple. While the majority of the first series was studio-based, Derek revealed the pair will go out and about for the new series, due to be aired in the summer.

He said: “Each episode now starts with us out and about. We go to the gym, we go to dancing classes – so we’re out of that flat. There are some scenes in there, but there’s a lot of stuff outside.”

Derek revealed he had just finished filming the new series and was expecting it to hit screens in June.

The Last Tango In Halifax star is playing a king in Disney’s new live action film of Cinderella, directed by Sir Kenneth Branagh.

The Shakespearean actor said: “I’ve sat on many a throne, yes! But this was the first time for Disney, and it was such a marvellous experience.

“Working for Ken is so wonderful, Ken and I go back a long way, about 30 years I think, and each time we work together, it’s been sensational.”
