David Beckham has revealed his 16-year-old son Brooklyn tells him his clothes aren’t cool – and then borrows them without asking.

The 39-year-old former footballer and model admitted he may not still be considered a “cool dad” by his eldest son, but he does notice when he has raided his wardrobe.

David said: “My elder child, Brooklyn, he’s 16 years old. Every time I go into my wardrobe, there’s clothes on the floor, and I’m a really tidy person, so I know he’s been in there. He doesn’t think I’m too cool at times, but when he comes out in my jeans or my trainers or t-shirts…

“One of the last times Brooklyn thought I was cool was when I got him the Kanye shoes for his birthday. So for about five hours I was cool again, and then he realised I got a pair as well, and it kind of killed it for him.

“I do get inspiration from my kids. Brooklyn is constantly coming up with his own look, and Cruz is the same, and Romeo is Romeo, he looks good in everything. So they give me inspiration all the time.”

David also admitted he had been thinking about bleaching his hair blond again, but wife Victoria had put a stop to it.

He revealed: “Brooklyn went that shade the other day and it looked that great, and I was like, ‘Could I do it again?’, and Victoria looked at me as if to say ‘Sit!’.”

David was speaking to promote the launch of his new fragrance Instinct: Gold Edition.
