Bethany Platt has only just arrived back in Coronation Street – to a rapturous welcome from her doting grandmother Gail McIntyre.

But the trouble-making teen – played by newcomer Lucy Fallon – is soon running rings around Gail (Helen Worth), and so she decides to send her back to her mum in Milan.

Helen Worth revealed to Inside Soap: “Gail loves Bethany, but she knows that she’s playing a game with them all.

“And she really hasn’t got the time for Bethany’s daily dramas! Gail’s not having any of it – so she books her a flight back to Milan.”

Bethany’s mischief begins in tonight’s episode when Gail catches the 14-year-old drinking vodka in the Rover’s Return pub at lunch time.

She sends her to work at great gran Audrey Roberts’ salon to try and keep her out of trouble, but Bethany soon sweet-talks Audrey into insisting she must stay on the cobbles as her life in Milan sounds so terrible.

So Gail calls her daughter Sarah-Louise Grimshaw (Tina O’Brien) and tells her to come over to England and sort out her child. And it looks like they’ll be staying as it was recently revealed Sarah is set to get a job as a barmaid in the Rovers.

Helen said: “I’m absolutely delighted. I’ve stayed in touch with Tina since she left, so I’m thrilled that she’s back.

“And Lucy is lovely. It’s such a fantastic family.”
