If you thought sustainable fashion is all about dull, uninspiring clothing made from dodgy fabrics, actress Olivia Wilde’s latest photoshoot will make you think otherwise.

As the new face of H&M’s Conscious Exclusive collection, Olivia looked like a bit like a goddess as she modelled a range made from eco-friendly and organic materials such as recycled wool, Tencel and recycled sequins.

“I love the Conscious Exclusive collection at H&M, both for the look, and also for its ethics,” said the 31-year-old actress. “This is how all fashion should be: great style that’s naturally more sustainable.”

Olivia, who has an 11-month-old son Otis and is busy setting date for her wedding to fiance Jason Sudekis, believes eco-friendly fashion doesn’t mean you have to give up on your sense of style or embrace the hippy look.

“Sustainability doesn’t mean compromising fashion,” she says, adding: “To describe sustainability in three words, it would be responsible, necessary and possible.”

The collection, created by French stylist Ludivine Poiblanc, features an organic linen and silk sleeveless gown with hand painted images of birds. There’s also a black cocktail dress made from Tencel and recycled wool, and a sleeveless print cocktail dress inspired by Japanese ink and made from organic hemp, organic silk and organic cotton.

“Sustainability has got a bad reputation, especially in fashion. I think people assume the clothes will be dull, the fabrics uncomfortable and the design uninspiring,” Olivia told WWD.
