Emma Thompson is to star in Disney’s upcoming Beauty And The Beast.

The Saving Mr Banks star has signed on to portray talking-and-singing teapot Mrs Potts in the live-action take of the 1991 musical film, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Emma Watson will star as Belle aka Beauty, alongside Dan Stevens as the Beast/Prince.

Luke Evans has been cast as Gaston, with Josh Gad as his “buffoonish and loyal sidekick” LeFou.

Kevin Kline have also joined the cast as Belle’s father Maurice.

Alan Menken, who won two Oscars in 1991 for his music on the animated version, will once again score the reboot, which will feature “new recordings of the original songs”, in addition to new music written by Alan and Sir Tim Rice.

Production on Beauty And The Beast is expected to begin in May at Shepperton Studios in London, with the film scheduled for release in March 2017.
