Christopher McQuarrie has taken time out of his busy schedule for a Q and A on Twitter.

The filmmaker is directing the fifth instalment of Mission: Impossible, starring Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner and Ving Rhames.

Here’s what we gleaned from the 30-minute-long session:

1) The film’s ending has not been reshot.

2) Paula Patton will not return to play Jane Carter, nor will Maggie Q as Zhen Lei.

3) There could be another mind-blowing shoot-out.

4) Tom and Jeremy are consummate professionals.

5) Tom was a dream to work with.

6) So is Rebecca Ferguson, who is joining the cast.

7) Time is of the essence during the shoot.

8) Christopher has delegated some of the writing duties.

9) Jeremy’s alter-ego, Agent William Brandt, will have a bigger role in this film.

10) As will Ving’s Luther Stickell.

11) Simon’s character Benji Dunn will also be more hands on.

12) There may be references to the original 1980s TV series.

13) He’s a fan of the original TV show, and especially Barnard ‘Barney’ Collier, played by Greg Morris.

14) Sean Harris is the film’s baddie.

15) Mystery surrounds Alec Baldwin’s character.

16) He can’t wait to start editing.

17) A lot of footage has been filmed.

18) There could be a show-stopping finale.

19) The trailer will be worth the wait.
